How to Submit Your Article
We can accept articles in any format so if you are not too flash on the computer, don't worry, we'll sort it out.
We accept all types of articles related to mountaineering.
This includes articles on
- climbs anywhere in New Zealand or around the world
- a climb you did years ago
- climbs at any grade, including routes often climbed
- alpine adventures such as ice climbing, alpine trekking, ski touring, rock climbing or ski or snowboard descents
- a specific region, e.g., ice climbing in the Darrans
- how to modify your ice pick, how insulated clothing works or the ethics of falling asleep while belaying
We also welcome opinion pieces and short descriptions of an interesting photo or two (a "Moment in Time").
How should I send my article to Mountainz?
Email the editor at cescachoo@gmail.com. In your email, please include
- captions for each photo and the name of the photographer
- the name of the mountain and the route climbed / attempted
- the names of the people on the climb
- when the climb took place
If you want to specify where we should place the photos in your article then make a note
in the article itself, e.g., <<Picture 1: Glacier from the helicopter, Day 1>>.
Articles can be of any length but 1000–2000 words is preferred. You can send as many photos as you like, the more action shots the better.
We can accept the photos in any format. All photos need to be a minimum of 800 pixels on the longest axis.
Payment for articles.
We pay for main features but not for opinion pieces or submissions for "Moment in Time". Payment takes the form of up to NZ$50 worth of gear from the Simond range of carabiners, quickdraws, slings and pitons at www.iclimb.co.nz. Once your article has been published on Mountainz, the editor will contact you to find out what gear you would like, and postage will be arranged.
